Bottlecap Jewelry

Here's what I made today...
Actually, I made these about a month ago, but I'm just getting around to posting them today.

Wanna make your own? Here's how:
My sister in law saw this idea on someone's blog. (I can't remember where now, and I googled and googled, but couldn't find it, so if anyone knows who came up with this idea, please tell me so I can give them credit.)

It's so easy, we even did it with our kids. Until they just started eating the sprinkles, then we gave up on them and let them glue their sprinkles on paper.

Here's what you'll need:
Bottle caps
Sprinkles
Envirotex

Put your sprinkles in your bottle cap (the round ones are Wilton brand).

Mix up your invirotex as directed on the box. You won't need much.
Once your sprinkles are arranged how you want them, just pour the envirotex over top.

Let them dry, and you're DONE!

Then just hot glue them onto a headband or a hair clip and stick them in your girl's hair.
Or you could attach them to a ring or a necklace chain and you've got a funky accessory.
My little boy wanted something too, so we made him a blue one to put on his backpack's zipper. He loves it!

I'm going to put this red and white one in my little girl's hair on the fourth of July. So Summery and Festive!

I also made a really cute pendant necklace using the same technique. Here's how.
My sister in law picked up some of these (on sale!) at Hobby Lobby. We love us some Hobby Lobby!!!

Then I cut a square of vinyl and stuck it in. You could do this with scrapbook paper or fabric or whatever. The envirotex does saturate it, though, so make sure you put a layer of mod podge on top of your paper before you pour in the envirotex. I didn't have to worry, because I just used vinyl.

I cut out this cute little swirly heart with my Cricut. You could also use a sticker or even a picture if you wanted.

Add your envirotex and let it dry.

Put it on a chain and your DONE!

  1. You are so creative! I check your blog almost every day for new things. I think it is because I am home so I am looking for some fun, inexpensive ways to decorate. I am totally going to make these necklaces. I also love love love the paint chip picture a couple of posts back too. I am going to make it for my bedroom. Love you Nat for doing this and sharing/blogging your ideas.
