Sunday Swap: Earring and Necklace Holder

I'm so excited for today's Sunday Swap! After I asked Melanie to share a tutorial with us, I found out she and I knew each other from high school. Not only is she very talented and creative, but she is also a really sweet person! Here is today's Sunday Swap. Melanie from A-F Creations is going to share this really cute earring and necklace holder. What a good way to organize {and keep the kids hands off of} your jewelry. Hi everyone!  I'm so happy to be guest posting here at Corduroy Dreams!  I'm Melanie and I'm going to show you how to make this easy earring and necklace holder:

The supplies I used are:

*wood frame without glass

*screen

*hooks

*screwdriver with a drill bit as small as the diameter of your hook 

*staple gun

*scissors

Here's how to do it:

Drill pilot holes in your frame.  This makes putting the hooks in so much easier.  Consider which way you want it to hang on the wall.

Next, staple screen on the back of the frame.  Only do 2 adjacent sides at this point.  It doesn't have to look perfect.

Then pull it tight (not so tight as to rip it of course, just so it's taut and flat) while stapling the remaining 2 sides.

Next, cut off the excess screen.

After that you'll twist in your hooks.  If it's hard on your fingers, grab some plyers to help.

If you use closed hooks (namely eye hooks), like I did, you'll open them with plyers now.  If not, lucky you!  One less step.

And finally, hang it on the wall and put up your bling!  

And if you'd like to add more color, staple or tape some scrapbook paper behind the screen.
